Should a Christian Celebrate Christmas?

Pt 2

If we tell our children it is His birthday, then we lie. If we say three wise men came and brought gifts to baby Jesus in the manger, then we lie. If we say Christmas honors the Son of God, then we lie. Christmas is a thoroughly pagan holiday in its origin, in its trappings, and in all its traditions. People who damn our God and take his name in vain daily will observe this holiday. Why? Because it is THEIR ungodly holy-day, not HIS (2 Cor 6:14-7:1). When the Puritans under Oliver Cromwell banned Christmas because it was part pagan and part papist, people rioted. Do you really think that the world who denies Christ, would care about Christmas if it was truely a celebration of Him. Notice, that it was restored in 1660 by King Charles II, a Catholic.

The very popularity of Christmas should cause the Christian to question it. If December 25th was a date set by God to remember the birth of Jesus, you could be sure that the world would have nothing to do with it. The world loves Christmas, but hates the Lord Jesus Christ (Jn. 15:18, 23-25), it shuns anything pertaining to true religion. Anyone and everyone can celebrate Christmas, outright pagans who damn him daily and take our Fathers name in vain, nominal Christians, Buddhists, and Hindus. Shouldn't the Christian be a little suspicious of a celebration in which the whole sinful world can join without qualms?

That Christmas is a pagan festival is beyond all doubt. The time of the year, and the ceremonies with which it is celebrated, prove its origin. Every year churches, which are called to be Holy Houses Of God, have christmas plays, pageants and productions, which fill the air with lies, deception, and soulish emotions, all fixated on something that has no truth in it. To make any accommodation for this pagan holy day is to signify to people that it is acceptable to God. Isn't it sad that christian ministries say it is okay to depict lies and false teachings, that there is no harm in honoring this holiday.

"Then the Lord said unto me, the prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart." Jeremiah 14:14

Many Born-Again christians who would not worship the mass, pray to Mary, pray the rosary, pray to saints, or believe in purgatory, who cry out all year long against the blasphemous Roman Catholic system, at the year-end embrace Rome's most blasphemous abomination of them all, Christmas. The Catholic mass for Christ (Christ-Mass), blasphemes and transgresses the Blood of Jesus Christ, yet even when some christians know its origins and roots, they still insist on celebrating Christmas.

Unacceptable Worship

And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David: If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah. Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan. And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan. And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi. And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made. So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense. 1 Kings 12:26-33

1 Kings 12:26-33 In order to unify the northern ten tribes of Israel, ungodly King Jeroboam set up pagan idols, not in place of God, but as new focal points for directing worship to God. He even instituted a new festival on a new day (a new religious holiday of his own choosing). Even though the true God of Israel was still to be the object of worship in the new religious holiday, both the holiday and the worship were not authorized by God nor accepted by Him (The concocted mixture of error with truth constituted false religion) (1 Kings 13:1-3; 15:29,30).

Is not the celebration of Christmas a religious holiday of man's own choosing, replete with pagan symbols and forms, all under the guise (by sincere Christians at least) of worshiping the one true God and Savior? Does not this worship form and system constitute false religion, thereby making it unacceptable to God? Where in the Bible do Christians have the right to add a new holy day to the so-called Christian calendar, any more than King Jeroboam had the right to add a new holy day to God's theocratic calendar?

And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city. And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel. Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, yet unto the LORD their God only. 2 Chronicles 33:15-17

2 Chronicles 33:15-17 The Israelites had kept the old pagan form, the high places of Baal, and had merely introduced the worship of God into that form. God was to be worshiped in the Temple, not on the high places. The Israelites refused to let go of pagan worship forms. This was unacceptable worship because the right object of worship was mixed with wrong forms of worship (the mixing of godly worship with ungodly form).

Is not the celebration of Christmas the taking of a celebration established by pagans and for pagans, and then introducing the worship of Christ into that pagan form? God never intended for His people to be imitators of the pagan customs of the world, but has called us to be separate and set apart.

Sun Worship

History demonstrates that the point of departure for every major apostasy in Israel and Christendom was the subtle mixing of the worship of the true God with worship forms of the Sun-god.

Exodus 32, is a Biblical precedent which provoked God nearly to the point of destroying the nation of Israel for their sin of blending pagan worship with His own. A golden calf was built (v2-4) and the celebration declared "a feast to the LORD" (v5). The people had declared a celebration to honor God that He did not recognize as being in His honor.

In his book, Too Long In The Sun, Richard Rives draws an appropriate parallel to the circumstances, his assertion is validated by evidence that the golden calf was an Egyptian idol of sun-worship, Hat-hor being the womb of Isis, the mother/wife of Horus:

"Hathor and Aphis, the cow and bull gods of Egypt, were representatives of sun worship. Their worship was just one stage in the long Egyptian history of solar veneration. The golden calf at Mount Sinai is more than sufficient evidence to prove that the feast proclaimed was related to sun worship. The event at Mount Sinai was just one episode in the Satanic apostasy which began at the tower of Babel. The celebration of December 25th, originally proclaimed in honor of the birth of the sun god Mithra, can only be one of the final events in the long continuing saga of Satanic sun worship." (Richard Rives, Too Long in the Sun, Partakers Pub., 1996, pp. 130-31.)

The return of the Israelites to sun-worship in the wilderness was indicative of an inward return to Egypt which led to their eventual judgment. Notice the identical form of worship that is found in Exodus 32, is found among God's people again in 1 Kings 12:26-33, which records Israel's apostasy under the reign of King Jeroboam. Notice that he took "two calves of gold" (v28), and devised a feast "like unto" the true feast in Judah (v32). The establishment of sun-worship by King Jeroboam marked the division of the kingdom and the beginning of Israel's apostasy, which culminated in the Assyrian captivity.

Likewise, the 4th century compromise of Christianity with the pagan religions of Rome coincides with the institution of the feast of Christmas. Finally, the 19th century departure from the Puritan faith leading to the present apostasy occurred around the time of the re-establishment of Christmas as a Christian holiday.

Sun Worship And The Christmas Tree

The Christmas Tree, which is decorated with lights and ornaments, and set upright in houses, can be found in the Old Testament as far back as the days of Jeremiah, representing the worship of Baal (the sun god).

"Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel. Thus saith the LORD, learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold: they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might." (Jeremiah 10:1-6)

Trees, especially evergreen trees, have been worshipped by pagans since the earliest of times. The ancient pagans had a profound reverence for all natural phenomena. Fires and lights were used in celebrating the winter solstice because they were symbols of warmth and lasting life. The May tree (May pole), was used as a fertility symbol.

"To them, Nature was everywhere alive. Every fountain had its spirit, every mountain its deity, and every water, grove, and meadow, its supernatural association. The whispering of the trees ... was the subtle speech of the gods who dwelt within" (W.M. Auld, Christmas Traditions).

This is nothing but nature worship or Animism. Evergreen trees, since they were ever-green (remaining green through-out the winter season when most other forms of vegetation are dormant), they were worshiped as symbols of life, immortality, fertility, sexual potency, and reproduction. They were often brought into homes, and set up as idols, and what must you do when setting a gift under the tree? You must bow down before it to lay your gift.

"The Christmas tree, now so common among us, was equally common in Pagan Rome and Pagan Egypt. In Egypt it was the palm tree; in Rome it was the fir; the palm-tree denoting the Pagan Messiah, as Baal-Tamar, the fir referring to him as Baal-Berith. The mother of Adonis, the Sun-God and great mediatorial divinity, was mystically said to have been changed into a tree, and when in that state to have brought forth her divine son. If the mother was a tree, the son must have been recognized as ‘Man the Branch.’ And this entirely accounts for putting the Yule Log into the fire on Christmas Eve and the appearance of the Christmas tree the next morning. As Zero-Ashta, ‘The seed of the woman,’ ...he has to enter the fire on ‘Mother night,’ that he may be born the next day out of it, as the ‘Branch of God,’ or the Tree that brings divine gifts to men." (The Two Babylons, p.97)

The custom of hanging Holly and Ivy was to pay homage to the spirits that would bring life and fertility into the home. The red berries on the holly was for mans sexuality (the hanging of round balls on a tree represented the same), the ivy for a woman around him. The green leaves represented the mans potency and the berries the life. In combination with the female ivy, it promised new life and fertility to the entire household for the year to come.

In pagan mythology, evergreen means eternal life and a never-dying existence. Made from evergreens, Christmas wreaths were most frequently round, which symbolized the sun (just as do halos in most religious art). Hence, the round Xmas wreaths stand for an eternal sun, a never-dying or self-renewing sun. In addition, the round form can also relate to the sign of the female, which stands for the regeneration of life. Because of these pagan associations, the Christian church was initially hostile towards the use of wreaths and other evergreen derivatives. But in the same way it Christianized other pagan traditions, the church soon found a way to confer its own symbolic meanings. For example, the sharp pointed leaves of the "male" holly came to represent Christ's crown of thorns and the red berries His blood, while the "female" ivy symbolized immortality (Sulgrave Manor, "A Tudor Christmas," p.6)

The Yule log was considered by the ancient Celts a sacred log to be used in their religious festivals during the winter solstice; the fire provided promises of good luck and long life, and helped the dying earth to regain strength and allow the rebirth of the sun.. Each year's Yule log had to be selected in the forest on Christmas Eve by the family using it, and could not be bought, or the superstitions associated with it would not apply. In Babylonian paganism, the log placed in the fireplace represented the dead Nimrod, and the tree which appeared the next morning (which today is called the "Christmas tree") was Nimrod alive again (reincarnated) in his new son (sun), Tammuz. (Still today in some places, the Yule log is placed in the fireplace on Christmas Eve, and the next morning there is a Christmas tree).

Today's Yule log tradition was adapted from ancient Scandinavian, where their pagan sex and fertility god, Jul, or Jule, was honored in a twelve day celebration in December. When this season began, a large, single log, the Yule Log, was kept with a fire against it for twelve days, and each day for twelve days a different sacrifice was offered. The period now counted as the twelve days between Christmas and Epiphany was originally the twelve days of daily sacrifices offered to the Yule log.

The lit Yule Log was a "phallic" symbol, representing a good omen for heightened sexuality for the coming year. The same Yule Log was used for all 12 days to keep the fire lit or to re-light it. It was the shadow and type of a burning lust of a man to fuel the fires of sexual potency to reproduce fertility. So when we read a card or hear, "Yuletide greetings", what is basically being said is, "I greet you with this flaming log to fulfill a year of sexual virility. Should a Christian really send greetings in the name of a Scandinavian fertility god?

The feast of Christmas is, in allegorical form, the pagan celebration of the Serpent’s eventual triumph over the very God who cut down the tower of Babel (symbolized by a tree).

The first decorating of an evergreen was done by pagans in honor of their god Adonis, who after being slain was brought to life by the serpent Aesculapius. The representation of the slain Adonis was a dead stump of a tree. Around this stump coiled the snake - Aesculapius, symbol of life restoring. From the roots of the dead tree, then comes forth another and different tree - an evergreen tree, symbolic to pagans of a god who cannot die. In Babylon, the evergreen tree came to represent the rebirth/reincarnation of Nimrod as his new son (Sun), Tammuz. In Egypt, this god was worshiped in a palm tree as Baal-Tamar. Heathen people in the land of Canaan also adopted tree worship, calling it the Asherah - a tree with its branches cut off was carved into a phallic symbol (representing a mans sexual organ of reproduction). The fir tree was worshiped in Rome as the same new-born god, named Baal-Berith, who was restored to life by the same serpent. A feast was held in honor of him on December 25th, observed as the day on which the god reappeared on earth, he had been killed, and was "reborn" on that day, victorious over death. It was called the "Birthday of the Unconquered Sun."

"...the divine child born at the winter solstice was born as a new incarnation of the great god (after that god had been cut in pieces...on purpose to revenge his death upon his murderers.) Now the great god, cut off in the midst of his power and glory, was symbolised as a huge tree, stripped of all his branches, and cut down almost to the ground. But the great Serpent, the symbol of the life restoring Aesculapius, twists itself around the dead stock...and lo, at its side sprouts a young tree - a tree of an entirely different kind, that is never to be cut down by a hostile power -...and thus shadowed forth the perpetuity and everlasting nature of his power, how that after having fallen before his enemies, he has risen triumphant over them all. Therefore, the 25th of December, the day that was observed in Rome as the day when the victorious god reappeared on earth was held at the Natalis invicti solis, 'The birthday of the unconquered Sun." (The Two Babylons, p. 98)

Whether erected in private homes or in churches, decorated or not, the evergreen tree is a glaring symbol of this false god. Whether its under the names of Tammuz and Baal, or the worship of the sun, mingled with the worship of Aesculapius the serpent, or whether its the Roman Catholic Church (reviving and restoring the mystery religions as they were practiced in ancient cultures), making the death and reincarnation of Osiris in his son, Horus (the Egyptian savior), the virtual counterpart of Jesus Christ.

In her Theosophical Glossary, occultist, H.P. Blavatsky thus describes Horus:

"Horus (Eg.). The last in the line of divine Sovereigns in Egypt, said to be the son of Osiris and Isis. He is the great god ‘loved of Heaven,’ the ‘'beloved of the Sun, the offspring of the gods, the subjugator of the world.’ At the time of the Winter Solstice (our Christmas), his image in the form of a small newly-born infant, was brought out from the sanctuary for the adoration of the worshipping crowds..." (H.P. Blavatsky, The Theosophical Glossary, London: 1892, p.145.)

Jesus said in Matthew 7:15-20 (please read fully) that a good tree can not bear bad fruit, and a bad tree can not bear good fruit. Christmas is a bad tree. He also said in verse 15 that False Prophets would come in sheeps clothing, meaning they have an outward appearance of being good, but inside they are ravening wolves. Do you honestly think we can put the name Jesus on this pagan wickedness and expect our Heavenly Father to be pleased? Satan is the reason for this season, not Jesus.

In answer to those Christians who say, "We do not worship the tree":

"The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God. Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing" Deuteronomy 7:25-26

"There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death" Proverbs 16:25

Once you are no longer ignorant, and know the truth, then to carry on celebrating Christmas is a sin (Romans 14:23), do not compromise with the world or the church by participating in any Christmas celebrations. Right or wrong is not based on how many do something (Galations 1:10), or how many preachers say it is all right, it is not based on our emotions, or our feelings, it is based upon what the the factual truth of the Word of God.

There will be many so called men of God, Pastors and Teachers that will condemn, and not harken to this teaching, yet they will only violate the Holy Word of God by doing so. There will be those that will not listen to the truth, thus fulfilling Jeremiah 44:16-17;

"As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the Lord, we will not hearken unto thee. But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth."

When Christmas is exposed for the what it really is, it will anger people. It will anger Protestant people! Because what began as a Roman Catholic holy day, then became a Protestant holy day, so by rooting up the pagan celebration of Christmas, you are rejecting a Protestant tradition.

John the Baptist (speaking of Jesus) said in Matthew 3:10, "And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire". This was being directed towards the men of religious teaching, the Pharisees and Sadducees (v7), of whom Jesus Christ himself warned us to beware of their doctrine or teaching (Matthew 15:1-10; 16:1-13). "....Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition" (Matthew 15:6). These were also the men who said their Father was God in Heaven, yet Jesus said they were of their father the devil (John 8:40-44).

If you heed this teaching, your greatest adversary and greatest foe will be those who profess to know Jesus. The very ones who say they love Him, will condemn you, unless they also be set free. Be prepared to face the wrath of the religious machine.

"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you". Matthew 5:10-12

"Yea, and all that will live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution" II Tim.3:12

Everything these pagans did to worship their god, is identical to what people do today for Christmas, because it all comes from Satan.

The exchanging of gifts comes from when the pagans went from house to house with their little graven images or idols wrapped. Candles:

Candles were lit by the ancient Babylonians in honor of their god, and his altars had candles on them. And as is well known, candles are also a major part of the ritualism of Roman Catholicism, which adopted the custom from heathenism. Candles approached the Yule log in ritual importance. Like the Yule log, they had to be a gift, never a purchase, and were lighted and extinguished only by the head of the household. Such candles stood burning steadily in the middle of the table, never to be moved or snuffed, lest death follow. The Yule candle, wreathed in greenery, was to burn through Christmas night until the sun rose or the Christmas service began (Sulgrave Manor, "A Tudor Christmas," p. 9).

Obviously, candles should have no part in Christian worship, for nowhere in the New Testament is their use sanctioned.

The "Christmas goose":

The "Christmas goose" and "Christmas cakes" were both used in the worship of the Babylonian "messiah." The goose was considered to be sacred in many ancient lands, such as Rome, Asia Minor, India, and Chaldea. In Egypt, the goose was a symbol for a child, ready to die! In other words, a symbol of the pagan "messiah," ready to give his life (supposedly) for the world. This is obviously a satanic mockery of the truth. (Helgerson, John C. Considering the Christmas Issue. The Church of the Open Bible, Burlington, MA, 12/31/90, 12 pp.)

Christmas Ham:

Hogs were slaughtered and the eating of the carcass was one of the central festivities of the Saturnalia. Each man would offer a pig as a sacrifice because superstition held that a boar had killed the sun deity Adonis. Hence, the tradition of the Christmas ham on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. (Hislop, Alexander. The Two Babylons: Or The Papal Worship. Loizeaux Bros., Neptune, NJ, 1959:Second Edition, 330 pp.)

And from Dr. H.A. Ironside's Lectures on the Book of Revelation (1920: p.301):

"It is a lamentable fact that Babylon's principles and practices are rapidly but surely pervading the churches that escaped from Rome at the time of the Reformation. We may see evidences of it in the wide use of high-sounding ecclesiastical titles, once unknown in the reformed churches, in the revival of holy days and church feasts such as Lent, Good Friday, Easter, and Christ's Mass, or, as it is generally written, Christmas. ... some of these festivals ... when they are turned into church festivals, they certainly come under the condemnation of Galatians 4:9-11, where the Holy Spirit warns against the observance of days and months and times and seasons. All of them, and many more that might be added, are Babylonish in their origin, and were at one time linked with the Ashtoreth and Tammuz mystery-worship. It is through Rome that they have come down to us; and we do well to remember that Babylon is a mother, with daughters who are likely to partake of their mother's characteristics..."

Look at the following spiritually through the eyes of truth:

"SATURN was the youngest son of Uranus (heaven) and Gaea (earth) in Roman Mythology. The name probably comes from the Latin verb "serere" which means "to sow". The Greeks called him Kronos (where we get time-chronology-from) and to the Romans, Saturn was the god of HARVEST. The festival called SATURNALIA was held in Rome every year from December 17th to the 23rd in his honor. During Saturnalia, the Golden Age was supposedly returned to the earth. The Greek word "chronos" means time. Kronos or Saturn is usually depicted as a bent old man with the scythe (sickle) in the one hand. In the other hand, he holds a serpent which bites its own tail. The story of Saturn's swallowing his own children is a way of showing that time creates and then it destroys its creations. (World Book Encyclopedia)

This god, represented to them a god of time and a god of harvest. Notice how in one hand is the sickle, representing harvest and in the other hand a serpent, thus Satan believes he can harvest the world, in his time. Notice also, that it says that Saturn would devour his own children. Just like those of the World will end up devoured in hell. Satan is a master of deception and Satan is the spirit behind Christmas. The roots of Christmas are demonic, and it can not bring forth good fruit simply by covering it up with an outwardly Chistian appearance (John 4:24).

Satan wants the emotions and the eyes of the people focused on a helpless little baby in a manger, and not on the risen Christ, the KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS (Revelation 19:16). The Apostle Paul says:

"But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world." (Galatians 6:14)

If you stop regarding pagan holy days as special days, at first it is going to be hard. Its going to be hard on you and your families, but it is better for us to obey the Word of God than to please the people ( please read I Samuel 15:21-28). For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry (v23). Eventually your eyes will be opened to the spiritual darkness and strong delusion of the season.

"....If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31-32)
