BGEA COVER UP
Many official Masonic sites have listed Billy Graham in their Famous Masons lists, that was until this year - 1998.
Cutting Edge reported that the Louisiana Masonic Family, and the Genesee Lodge No. 174, both listed Rev. Billy Graham as a Freemason. It is unlikely that these Masonic Web Sites would a lie concerning their membership. Both of these Masonic Web Sites are official Freemasonry sites, as you can see for yourself by going to their home pages.

Since the Cutting Edge report both of the above sites have removed his name from their lists, because of pressure from the Billy Graham organization. The Louisiana site has even changed their original Internet Address. The one above is the updated url.
To see the original listing in the section entitled, "Famous Masons", of the Louisiana Masonic Family Web Site, Click Here - (in the subsection entitled, "Other Famous Masons", alphabetically listed, is the Reverend Billy Graham). Click on "Main" to get back here - I have altered the Hyperlink for the "Main" button - but thats all. You can compare listings by going to the actual Louisiana Masonic site listed above.
Also listed are Truman; Norman Vincent Peale; and J. Edgar Hoover, who participated in Jim Shaws 33rd Degree Initiation Rite with Billy Graham.
The BGEA flexed their muscles and the Lodges withdrew Billy's name, also the BGEA denied that Billy Graham is, or ever has been a Freemason, which Cutting Edge has accepted.
The letter to Cutting Edge also advises a Christian against being a Freemason, Yet the BGEA itself employs Freemasons. Some Freemasons who have worked for Billy Graham include;
- William M. Watson - Director of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He is a Freemason and also a member of the development council of Masonic run and founded Baylor University. (Billy Graham received a Baylor 'Masonic' Award)
He also was a member of the advisory council to the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth which had at least 3 Freemasons on its board of trustees, and likely more.
- David M. McConnell - Director of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
David is also a Freemason. He was also U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
- Arthur Lee Malory - Co-Chairman of the Billy Graham Crusade Advisory Committee for the 1973 St. Louis Crusade. Arthur is a 32° Degree Freemason and a deacon in the Southern Baptist Church.
Self Professed Freemason, Norman Vincent Peale, was praised by Billy Graham in a speech at a National Council of Churches luncheon on 12 June 1966, "I don't know anyone who has done more for the kingdom of God than Norman and Ruth Peale, or have meant any more in my life from the encouragement they have given me" (Hayes Minnick, BFT Report #565, p. 28). Peale was also allowed to give the benediction at one of Grahams New York City rallies, (the names of 400 new "converts" was then sent to Peale's Marble Collegiate Church).
Robert Schuller, also a Freemason, was highly praised by Graham, and according to Graham, it was him who had encouraged Schuller back in 1969, to start his "Hour of Power" television show.
On Thursday 2nd of May 1996 Billy Graham and his wife Ruth received the Congressional Gold Medal, in the Rotunda of the US Capitol in Washington, D.C. It is the highest honor which Congress can bestow upon a citizen.
The front row of the photograph below, consisted of powerful 33rd Degree Freemasons.
(In the front row of the photo are: House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Vice President Al Gore, Senator Storm Thurmond, Bob Dole, Senator Jesse Helms and Franklin Graham, all of them are 33rd Degree Freemasons)

House speaker Newt Gingrich, host for the event, called Mr Graham, "one of the great civic leaders of the 20th Century", who together with his wife have "given up their lifes as a model for serving humanity, and stand as role models for generations to come. By receiving this medal, you join about as exalted a group of citizens as we have in this country, and you frankly honor us by being here to receive it."
Evidence that the people mentioned in the front row of the photo shown above are Masons.
